I was asked a few days ago about the story behind how the band got it`s name.
I asked Bob for the low down...
Bob says...
"Well I was in a band a long long time ago and were were in a car crash coming back from Germany, the roof was ripped from the car lie a sardine can. If were not lying down at the time it would have been lights out for us all. We were all asleep at the time unfortunately so was the driver,lol
I said thats it I wanna stay alive I don't wanna be in a band anymore, so I went and got a 9-5 at BSA.
I didn't like it much.
then a friend of mine Dave Morgan called me and asked if I wanted to join a band. I said sure. So i joined a band called Freds Box. Fred left shortly after taking his box with him,lol
We carried on and called ourselves Casino for a while until we got told by trading Standards that we could not use the name as we were not a Casino, lol Silly bugger.
We carried on for a while working as a covers band at the Rum Runner in Birmingham. We needed a name so a close family member said well you work in bars why don't you just call ye selves Magnum like the Champagne, well that was as good as anything else we could think of.
The guitarist Lee Kitteridge left the band so we gave Tony a call, who we had known on the circuit for a while. We asked if he wanted to come down and play some covers with us, he said ye sure and the rest is history as they say. Hope thats OK?
Sorry it`s not more exciting, I know it`s not very rock n roll but it`s the truth. Simple really.

"Nun, ich in einer Band vor langer langer Zeit war, und wurden, waren bei einem Autounfall aus Deutschland zurückzukommen, wurde das Dach aus dem Auto gerissen liegen eine Sardinenbüchse. Wenn nicht im Liegen zum Zeitpunkt gewesen wäre Lichter aus für uns alle. Wir schliefen alle zu der Zeit leider so war die Fahrer, lol
ich sagte thats it Ich will am Leben bleiben Ich will nicht in einer Band mehr sein, also ging ich und bekam einen 9-5 an BSA.

dann ein Freund von mir Dave Morgan genannt mir und fragte, ob ich in einer Band mitspielen. Ich sagte, dass. Also trat ich eine Band namens Freds Box. Fred links kurz nach der Einnahme seine Box mit ihm, lol
Wir führten auf und rief uns Casino für eine Weile, bis wir durch gesagt Trading Standards, die wir nicht nutzen konnten die Namen, da wir nicht ein Casino, lol Dummer Kerl.
Wir führten auf eine während der Arbeit als Cover-Band an der Rum Runner in Birmingham. Wir brauchten einen Namen so ein naher Familienangehöriger sagte auch, das Sie Arbeit in Bars, warum nicht anruft sollt ihr nur selbst Magnum wie die Champagne, gut, dass es so gut wie alles, was wir uns vorstellen können.
Der Gitarrist Lee Kitteridge verließ die Band und so haben wir Tony einen Anruf, den wir auf der gewusst hätte, Schaltung für eine Weile. Wir fragten, ob er kommen und spielen einige Briefe mit uns wollte, sagte er ihr sicher, und der Rest ist Geschichte, wie sie sagen. Hoffe, das ist OK?
Es `s nicht mehr spannend, ich weiß, es ist nicht sehr rock n roll Aber es ist die Wahrheit. Ganz einfach.
